WATER MELON

Citrullus lanatus 'Crimson Sweet' We have chosen this variety especially to encourage children into the garden. They could grow their very own Water Melon. This variety can produce large fruits with bright red sweet flesh.

CHARACTERISTICS:

Exposure: Full sun

Harvest: July to September

Garden Uses: Great for planting in beds, borders, or containers.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:

Starting Indoors - April-May

Row width: 90cm

Sow seeds 1.5cm deep in pots of moist compost, be careful not to over-water. Store in a warm place at an approx. temperature of 20°c. Reduce to a gentle heat once germination starts. When the seedlings are strong enough to handle and they have 2 true leaves, plant out under glass either in grow bags or direct into beds. Do not overcrowd the plants and keep in a warm, light position.

Provide support for the melons.
