Overview

Jamieson Brothers Potato Planter Bags

Size: 18" x 12" x 12"

These high quality potato planter bags are ideal for keen gardeners who are short on space, or anyone who wants to grow potatoes and other vegetables on a patio, balcony, greenhouse or small garden area.

Each bag holds approximately 45 litres, making it suitable for growing a good crop of potatoes from 3 to 5 seed potatoes. Simply plant, grow and harvest your potatoes as and when you need them.

The bags are strong, reusable and designed for reliable growing season after season. The newer bag design also retains 90% more water than the old design, helping to keep your crop better supported as it grows.

Please note: compost and potatoes are not included with the potato planter bags.

Container Growing Guide

Use a container that holds around 40 litres to grow a good crop of potatoes from 3 to 5 seed potatoes. Make sure your container has suitable drainage holes in the bottom. Do not use garden soil, use a good general purpose compost instead.

Add a layer of around 15cm / 6 inches of compost to the bottom of the planter. Place your seed potatoes on top with the eyes facing upwards, then cover them with around 5cm / 2 inches of compost.

Your potatoes will need water and fertiliser as they grow. The key is to get the watering right: avoid overwatering at first, but once the plants reach around 16 inches high, keep the compost moist.

Potatoes grow upwards, so continue adding more compost as the shoots grow. This process, known as earthing up, helps protect the developing crop from light and prevents potatoes from turning green and becoming inedible.

Reusable and Recyclable

The bags are produced from 100% PP5 plastic, with 30% recycled plastic content.

They are classed as widely recyclable and can be recycled through a PP5 waste stream. This is often included in household plastic recycling, depending on your local council’s recycling facilities.

We encourage all customers to reuse the bags where possible and recycle them responsibly at the end of their lifespan.
