Overview

Dahlia 'White Onesta' Bulb and Wildflower 'Butterfly' Mix Seeds

Dahlia 'White Onesta' is a sophisticated addition to any garden, prized for its large, pristine white blooms that bring elegance and purity to borders, beds, and containers. This decorative dahlia is loved for its lush, full flowers and long-lasting blooms that appear from mid-summer until the first frost. With its neat, rounded shape and striking white petals, 'White Onesta' provides a beautiful contrast to colourful flowers and dark foliage alike, and it makes an excellent choice for cut flower arrangements, adding elegance indoors and out.

The blooms of Dahlia 'White Onesta' are pure white with a soft, creamy centre, giving each flower a layered and luxurious appearance. Flowers can reach up to 15cm in diameter, with perfectly arranged petals forming a rounded, elegant shape. The white blooms catch the light beautifully, creating a soft, glowing effect in the garden. This variety is ideal for those seeking a classic, timeless flower to complement any garden design or floral display. Eack pack also contains a pack of Wildflower (Butterfly) Seed Mix, a welcome addition to any garden.

How to Grow Bulbs
Planting: Start your Dahlia 'White Onesta' tubers indoors in early spring, or plant them directly in the garden after the last frost has passed. Choose a sunny, well-drained spot with fertile soil. Plant the tubers about 10-15cm deep with the 'eye' or growth point facing upwards, and space them around 45-60cm apart to allow enough room for growth.
Watering: Water sparingly until shoots appear, then water regularly throughout the growing season to keep the soil consistently moist. Be careful not to overwater, as dahlias prefer well-drained conditions to prevent tuber rot.
Feeding: Apply a high-potassium fertiliser, such as tomato feed, every two to three weeks once buds start to appear. Regular feeding will support strong growth and encourage large, abundant blooms.
Staking: The tall stems and large blooms of 'White Onesta' may require support. Insert stakes or plant supports at the time of planting to avoid disturbing the tubers later, and loosely tie the stems to the supports as they grow to prevent bending or breakage.
Deadheading and Maintenance: Remove spent flowers regularly to promote continued blooming throughout the season. Dahlias will continue flowering until the first frost if maintained well.
Overwintering: In colder UK regions, lift the tubers after the first frost. Cut back the foliage, carefully lift the tubers, and allow them to dry. Store in a cool, frost-free location in slightly damp compost or peat until replanting in spring.

With its stunning white blooms and elegant form, Dahlia 'White Onesta' is a perfect choice for adding a touch of classic beauty to any garden, providing stunning displays from summer through to autumn, both in the garden and as cut flowers for the home.
