How to Grow Bulbs
Planting: Plant 'Pink and Purple' gladioli bulbs in spring, once the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny, well-drained location, ideally sheltered from strong winds. Plant bulbs 10-15cm deep, spacing them 10-15cm apart. For a bold effect, plant in clusters or rows. They are also well-suited to large containers.
Watering: Water the bulbs after planting to help them establish, and continue watering regularly throughout the growing season, especially in dry spells. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, as gladioli dislike overly wet conditions.
Feeding: Apply a balanced, liquid fertiliser every two weeks once the shoots begin to appear. This will encourage strong, healthy growth and large, vibrant blooms. Stop feeding once flowering is finished.
Staking: Gladioli 'Pink and Purple' can grow tall and may require support. Use stakes or plant supports as they grow to prevent the stems from bending or breaking, particularly in windy conditions.
