How to Grow
Planting: Plant 'Nova Lux' bulbs in spring, after the last frost, in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil. For the best display, plant in clusters or groups. Place each bulb about 10-15cm deep and space them around 10-15cm apart. Gladioli can also thrive in large containers.
Watering: Water the bulbs after planting to help them establish, and keep the soil consistently moist throughout the growing season. Avoid waterlogging, but provide a deep watering during dry spells to support strong growth and vibrant blooms.
Feeding: Use a balanced, liquid fertiliser every two weeks once shoots appear. Regular feeding will encourage lush foliage and large, vibrant flowers. Stop feeding once the flowering season ends.
Staking: Gladioli 'Nova Lux' grow tall and may need support, especially in windy areas. Insert stakes or plant supports as they grow to keep the stems upright and prevent bending or breaking.
Deadheading and Maintenance: Remove spent flowers to promote continued blooming along the stem. Once flowering is complete, allow the foliage to die back naturally, as this will help the bulbs store energy for next year’s blooms.
Overwintering: In colder UK regions, it’s best to lift and store gladioli bulbs after the foliage dies back.
