Overview
Allium Nigrum Short Double – 5 Bulbs
Allium Nigrum, also known as Black Garlic Allium, is a striking ornamental variety valued for its bold spherical flower heads. Each stem carries a dense globe of starry white florets with a hint of green at the centre, creating an elegant contrast that stands out in borders and mixed plantings. Compact in height, this shorter double form makes an excellent choice for front-of-border displays or for adding architectural detail to containers.
These late spring to early summer bloomers bring structure and brightness to the garden, combining effortlessly with other perennials and bulbs. Their long-lasting flowers are equally effective fresh in the garden or as unique cut flowers indoors, retaining both shape and form.
- Contents: 5 Allium Nigrum bulbs.
- When to Plant: September to November.
- Flowering: May to June.
- Height Range: 40–60 cm.
- Position: Full sun, well-drained soil.
Care Advice
Plant bulbs 10–15 cm deep in a sunny position with good drainage. Water well after planting and during dry periods in spring. Allow foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb for the following year. Alliums prefer to be left undisturbed and will naturalise over time.
What to Expect
From late spring, expect sturdy stems topped with striking white globe-like blooms that add height, structure, and elegance to borders. Their long-lasting flowers provide architectural interest and reliable returns each season.
