The Echinacea & Rudbeckia Mixed collection offers a delightful blend of vibrant, daisy-like flowers that bring long-lasting colour to any garden. This mix combines the elegant, coneflower blooms of Echinacea with the bold, golden hues of Rudbeckia, creating a stunning, wildlife-friendly display from midsummer to early autumn. Perfect for borders, beds, and pollinator-friendly gardens, this mix is hardy, easy to grow, and a magnet for bees and butterflies. With their extended flowering season, Echinacea and Rudbeckia add structure and lively colour to your outdoor space, making them ideal for both classic and naturalistic garden styles.
The Echinacea blooms feature distinctive raised central cones surrounded by soft, delicate petals in shades of pink, purple, and sometimes white, adding a touch of elegance to the garden. Rudbeckia, on the other hand, stands out with its rich, golden-yellow petals encircling dark, prominent centres, creating a bold contrast. Together, these flowers bring a mix of soft pastels and warm golden tones to your garden, enhancing late summer borders and creating a captivating contrast against lush green foliage. Both flowers are perfect for cut arrangements, adding brightness indoors as well. Every pack also contains a pack of Wildflower (Butterfly) Seed Mix, a welcome addition to any garden
How to Grow Bulbs
Planting: Choose a sunny, well-drained spot in the garden for your Echinacea & Rudbeckia mix. Both varieties prefer fertile, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Plant the bulbs (or young plants) in spring, spacing them about 30-45cm apart to allow enough room for growth and airflow.
Watering: Water the plants regularly until they are established, then reduce watering. Both Echinacea and Rudbeckia are fairly drought-tolerant once mature, but they benefit from occasional watering during dry spells to keep them blooming well.
Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring when new growth starts to appear to encourage healthy foliage and abundant flowering. Avoid over-fertilising, as too much nitrogen can lead to lush leaves at the expense of flowers.
Deadheading and Maintenance: Deadhead spent blooms to prolong the flowering period and encourage new buds to form. However, leaving some seed heads in autumn can provide food for birds and add winter interest.
Overwintering: Both Echinacea and Rudbeckia are hardy perennials in the UK. In autumn, cut back any dead stems to ground level to tidy up the garden, or leave some for winter interest. Mulching around the base of the plants can help insulate the roots over winter, particularly in colder regions.
Dividing: Every few years, divide clumps of Echinacea and Rudbeckia in early spring to rejuvenate the plants and prevent overcrowding. This also allows you to spread these beautiful flowers to other areas of your garden.
This Echinacea & Rudbeckia mix is an easy-to-grow choice for bringing natural beauty, vibrant colour, and wildlife interest to your garden, providing a stunning display year after year with minimal effort.
