Autumn Champion Onion Sets are a reliable choice for UK autumn planting, producing strong, golden-skinned onions with a full, versatile flavour. This 250g pack is ideal for growing overwintering onions in vegetable plots, raised beds, allotments and kitchen gardens.

Plant from September to November in a sunny, open position with firm, well-drained soil. Autumn planting gives the sets time to establish before winter, helping produce an earlier crop the following year. Autumn Champion onions are perfect for everyday cooking, including roasting, frying, soups, stews and savoury dishes.

Short planting guide:
Prepare the soil by removing weeds and breaking up large clumps. Plant each onion set with the pointed tip just showing above the soil surface. Space sets around 10cm apart, leaving 30cm between rows. Water after planting and keep the area weed free while the onions establish.

Growing tips:
Avoid planting into freshly manured soil, as this can encourage soft growth. Protect newly planted sets from birds until they root firmly. Water during dry spells in spring, but avoid waterlogged soil. Harvest from early to mid-summer once the leaves begin to yellow and bend over naturally.
